Commuters heading back to the Santa Clarita Valley from Pasadena, Glendale or La Canada-Flintridge will be in for a long drive this evening.
A fire, dubbed the La Tuna Fire, at La Tuna Canyon along Interstate 210 has closed the freeway in both directions for an “unknown duration,” according to the California Highway Patrol.

Entrances onto Interstate 210 at State Route 118 and State Route 2 have also been closed.

Weather may also play a factor. The National Weather Service reported that gusty, erratic winds in the area had a potential for extreme fire behavior.

Smoke from the blaze could be seen from Canyon Country, as reported by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station.
