Los Angeles-based artist Phil Althouse is set to meet Santa Claritans for a free reception on April 18 at The Main for “Reality Optional, The Unhinged Wit of Phil Althouse.”
This exhibit features digital artwork from the artist, who is fascinated by the challenge of telling a story and injecting humor and theatrical timing into a single still image, according to Santa Clarita Arts.
Althouse, a fine art photographer, moved from San Francisco to Hollywood, where he spent the bulk of his career in the film and television industry. The comedy and drama of “the industry” has informed his photography since.
In 2010, one of his nature images was chosen from a field of 45,000 for an exhibit in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. One reviewer called his body of work “an extraordinary mix of classical photography, inventive modern imagery and devilish eye for humor.”
The Santa Clarita community is invited to the latest art exhibit reception at The Main in Old Town Newhall, located at 24266 Main St. Guests attending this free reception on Thursday, April 18, can enjoy light refreshments and have an opportunity to meet Althouse from 7 to 10 p.m.
The exhibit is scheduled to be on display from April 17 to May 1. For more information about Althouse, visit shawhousephotography.com.
