California Highway Patrol officers are investigating a fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision in Canyon Country on Friday.
The call came in at 9:38 p.m. on the northbound lanes of Highway 14, south of the Golden Valley Road off-ramp.
“There was an unknown number of vehicles involved, pending an investigation,” said Officer Tony Polizzi, of the California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Office. “There is one deceased,” said Polizzi.
A SigAlert was issued at 10:25 p.m., shutting down all lanes. But, according to Polizzi at approximately 11 p.m., all lanes — except the No. 4 lane and off-ramp — had been reopened.
Los Angeles County Fire Department officials confirmed they were called to the scene at 9:58 p.m., but no one else was transferred for injuries.
The identification of the victim has not been released as of this story’s publication, pending the next-of-kin notification. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
