California Highway Patrol and Fire Department officials responded to a report of a vehicle that drove off the road on the southbound lanes of Interstate 5, near the Highway 14 interchange,  at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday.

“(The report) says a vehicle fell over the side, approximately 40 feet,” according to CHP Officer Patrick Kimball. The vehicle was described as a silver pickup truck, according to officers on the scene.

“A SigAlert was issued at (7 p.m.) for one-and-a-half hours for the one and two lanes,” he said, adding that the alert was canceled by 8:04 p.m.

The party, who was not identified by officials, was alone in the truck and not trapped in the car as was originally reported to officers, Kimball added. The driver was transported to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills for treatment.
