If you’re looking for a day of yoga, art, poetry and music, come to William S. Hart Park on Saturday, June 1.
Local yoga studio Yoga Yoga is hosting its second annual Yoga Kula Festival as a fundraiser to bring the community together and benefit Bridge to Home and the SCV Youth Project.
The event is set to start at 7:45 a.m. on June 1. Attendees will be greeted with a morning meditation ceremony that will then launch into a segment of yoga around 8 a.m. In the spirit of community, a number of yoga instructors from across the Santa Clarita Valley will help run the event.
“‘Kula’ means community,” said Lynch. “When I thought of the event, I wanted it to be something for the community. I’ve always navigated toward the youth and the homeless.”
This year, Lynch hopes to raise more funds to donate to Bridge to Home and the SCV Youth Project as she continues to see the community’s youth and homeless struggle. A $25 donation is suggested for participation in the event.
Attendees will also be given a chance to interact with the vendors of the event during a short intermission. Another segment of Yoga accompanied by a poetry reading is expected to follow, as well as live music and art.
Last year’s event had a great turnout with walk-ins from the community, including several homeless individuals who joined in the festivities, Lynch said.
“It was a really cool moment,” she said, “and we want to bring that back.”
Lynch is searching for more vendors, volunteers, and sponsors to help with the event. Those interested can contact Lynch at 661-993-2602 or email [email protected]. Donations sought include 25 small canvases, canvas paint, small paint brushes, coffee and ice tea.
