Highway 126 between Fillmore and Piru has been shut down due to a major traffic collision, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced late Tuesday afternoon.
A news alert issued at 6:18 p.m. by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department warned that a major traffic collision involving multiple vehicles has closed State Route 126 between the city of Fillmore and the town of Piru.
The duration of the closure is unknown at this time.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible, and use Highway 118 or US 101 as alternate routes.
Eastbound traffic on Highway 126 was, as of 6:15 p.m., being diverted from the city of Fillmore onto Guiberson Road to bypass the collision, which is approximately three miles east of the city of Fillmore.
