A man was hurt and taken to the hospital Friday evening following a traffic collision on McBean Parkway, near Granary Square.
The crash happened shortly after 8:15 p.m., just west of Arroyo Park Drive.
“This was a three-vehicle traffic collision,” said Supervisor Imy McBride with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
A dark-colored sedan hit a tree in the center median, knocking it over and pulling it out of the ground. The car sustained severe front-end damage in the crash, which triggered airbags in the vehicle.
Paramedics with the Fire Department treated a man for head injuries, placed him on a stretcher and into an ambulance. The injured man, believed to be a passenger in one of the vehicles, was taken by ambulance a block away to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.
Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station interviewed a woman, believed to be one of the drivers involved in the crash, who sat with her 8-year-old daughter at the curb.
Deputies on scene were investigating a report that her car allegedly hit the tree, and then spun out and hit two other vehicles. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
