Transients lighting a fire near Vasquez Canyon Road and Bouquet Canyon Road triggered a massive response to the area by firefighters Friday morning.

About 6:20 a.m., emergency response crews including the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the U.S. Forest Service were dispatched to an area near Vasquez Canyon Road and Bouquet Canyon Road.

More than a dozen firefighting vehicles from two battalions descended on the area.

“This call was for a brush fire,” Fire Department spokeswoman Vanessa Lozano said. “They (responding firefighters) reported that transients in the area were building a fire.”

The fire was extinguished and all responding firefighting crews cancelled within 20 minutes of the emergency call being received.
