State Sen. Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, is scheduled to present The Brittany Foundation with the distinguished nonprofit award during the foundation’s memorial and chili cook-off event Saturday, May 18.

“We are honored to be chosen by Wilk for this award,” the foundation’s website reads. “He is a tireless champion for animal rights and uses his voice to fight for them by introducing legislation in Sacramento to protect them.”

The nonprofit, which focuses on “charity dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, care and placement of homeless dogs” is set to host the event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will focus on honoring departed loved ones.

The event is set to take place at the Brittany Foundation Sanctuary on Sierra Highway and Anthony Road in Agua Dulce. The nonprofit will be accepting donations at the event.

The presentation of the nonprofit award is scheduled to begin at approximately 1 p.m., according to the website.
