One person was detained after Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a report of a domestic assault in Valencia Friday.

A man was detained by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriffs on suspicion he assaulted his father with a wooden stick at the 26200 block of Parkview Drive in Valencia Friday morning.

“A call came in saying a brother hit his father with a wooden stick and the suspect has schizophrenia,” said Sgt. Guillermo Martinez with the SCV Sheriff’s Station. “The call came in as an assault with a deadly weapon.”

The call was received by Sheriff’s Station deputies around 10:30 a.m.

There was no update on whether anyone was transported to the hospital, according to Martinez.
