The back wheels on a semi-truck caught on fire as the driver was on the southbound side of Interstate 5, near Lake Hughes Road, in Castaic Monday morning, according to Fire Department officials.

The call was received by the Los Angeles County Fire Department shortly before 10:30 a.m., and units were on scene by 10:40 a.m., said Leslie Lua, Los Angeles County Fire spokesperson.

“We received a report that there was a semi truck with its back wheels on fire,” Lua said.

The truck collided with the roadside before units arrived on scene, but the driver did not require transportation to a nearby hospital, according to Lua.

“The fire was put out and there weren’t any reports of it spreading,” Lua said.
