The L.A. Dodgers forced the World Series to a decisive seventh game with a dramatic game six win on Halloween night in Toronto, as Hart High School graduate Tyler Glasnow picked up the save, getting the final three outs on three pitches in the bottom of the ninth with the potential series-winning run at the plate.
The Dodgers emerged with the win over the Blue Jays, 3-1, forcing game seven, scheduled to be played 5 p.m. Saturday in Toronto.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto earned the win, pitching six innings with one run allowed. The Dodgers had been down 3-2 in the series going into game six.
Reliever Roki Sasaki left the game in the bottom of the ninth after 33 pitches, with runners on second and third base. Glasnow, who started game three and pitched 4 2/3 innings in what would become a legendary 18-inning marathon Dodgers victory, was summoned from the bullpen with the Dodgers’ series hopes on the line.
The Hart grad delivered.
On his first pitch, Glasnow got the Blue Jays’ Ernie Clement to pop out to first baseman Freddie Freeman.
One out. Two runners in scoring position with a two-run lead and the World Series on the line.
Then, Glasnow and the Dodgers ended game six in dramatic fashion and forced game seven: The Blue Jays’ Andres Gimenez hit a drive to shallow left field, where the Dodgers’ Kiké Hernández made the catch and threw out Addison Barger at second base for the game-ending double play.
Game seven is scheduled 5 p.m. Saturday in Toronto, to be broadcast on Fox.
