Game 3 of the World Series was historic — not only is it the longest game in Series history by innings, but also had 10 Dodgers pitchers appearing, including a Santa Clarita Valley connection in the game’s starter, Hart High School alumnus Tyler Glasnow.

Glasnow, who started the game and pitched 4 2/3 innings, had an up and down night as he struck out five but allowed four runs, two of them earned. He struck out five Toronto Blue Jays and walked three.

Thanks to Freddie Freeman’s heroics in the 18th inning, when he hit a walk-off home run off left-handed Blue Jays pitcher Brendon Little, the Dodgers won the game 6-5 and took a 2-1 series lead.

While everyone will remember Freeman’s homer, the unsung hero of Monday’s win is Will Klein, who didn’t appear in any of the previous three rounds of the postseason for the Dodgers.

The right-hander tossed four scoreless innings in relief, and struck out five going into the 18th inning for L.A.

As for the Dodgers’ $700 million man, Shohei Ohtani was never given the opportunity to hit in extra innings besides in the 17th inning, when he drew a walk. Prior to that he was intentionally walked four times. Ohtani reached base nine times throughout the entire game — with four hits, including a pair of doubles and two home runs in the first nine innings.

And with every pitcher in the Dodgers’ bullpen appearing in the game, Ohtani has a tall order to go deep in game four as he’s expected to start on the mound for Los Angeles on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium.

Following the game, Ohtani was interviewed on live television and was asked, “What’s the first thing he’s doing after a game that lasts six hours and 39 minutes?”

“I want to go to sleep as soon as possible so I can get ready” he said.
