There will be seven teams from the Santa Clarita Valley — from the Foothill League and Heritage League — participating in this season’s playoff race.
With West Ranch claiming the 2025 league crown, the Wildcats will be joined by four other Foothill League teams.
As for the private schools, Trinity and Santa Clarita Christian will continue their seasons into the first round of the California Interscholastic Federation playoffs after placing second and fourth in the Heritage League, respectively.
Here’s a look at the first-round matchups:
Tesoro vs. West Ranch
The reigning Foothill league champions begin their push to the Division 2 Southern Section title with a home game against the visiting Tesoro Titans.
The Wildcats, following a dominating league campaign with the team not giving up a single set, will be looking to replicate that play in the postseason.
The Titans, who are based in Rancho Santa Margarita, finished the Sea View League with a 6-2 record.
And although that isn’t the same imposing record as West Ranch, Tesoro will still be a tough matchup for the Wildcats in the first round as the Titans finished the year with an 18-7 overall record.
The Wildcats will play the Titans on Tuesday at West Ranch High School with the game set to begin at 6 p.m.
Pacifica Christian vs. Saugus
The Centurions finished the regular season as the runners-up in the Foothill League but will still play a home game to open playoffs in Division 3.
The team will host the Pacifica Christian Santa Monica Seawolves on Tuesday in what should be a good matchup.
The Seawolves were undefeated in Liberty League play and finished the season with five wins in a row.
The Centurions are also riding a hot streak into the postseason as the team has won the last two league games over Hart and Castaic.
Saugus has a 20-5 non-league record and looks to carry that momentum into the postseason.
The Centurions play the Seawolves on Wednesday at Saugus High School with the game set to begin at 6 p.m.
Canyon vs. Gahr
The Canyon girls’ volleyball team will be the only Foothill League team to play on the road as they begin the first round in Division 5.
The Cerritos-based Gahr Gladiators will host the Cowboys in what could be a tough matchup for the Cowboys.
The Gladiators ended their regular season with six straight wins, were undefeated in the Surburban League and recorded a 24-9 overall record.
The Cowboys finished the regular season below .500 and have a 6-6 league record, but do have momentum behind them as they concluded the year winning four of their last five.
The Gladiators and Canyon play on Wednesday at Gahr High School with the game set to begin at 6 p.m.
St. Bonaventure vs. Valencia
Valencia tied with Canyon for third place in the Foothill League standings and will participate in the same Division 5 bracket as the Cowboys.
The St. Bonaventure Seraphs will travel from Ventura to Valencia to take on the Vikings. The Tri-Valley league champions shape up as a tough matchup for Valencia as the Vikings are 6-6 in league play and ended their season going 3-3 in the last six games.
St. Bonaventure and the Vikings play on Wednesday at Valencia High School with the game set to begin at 6 p.m.
San Gabriel Academy vs. Castaic
Although the Coyotes didn’t finish in the top four of the foothill League standings for an automatic playoff berth, the team did earn an at-large bid and will play in their first postseason in program history.
And what better way to make history than at home.
The Coyotes will host the San Gabriel Academy Eagles, who finished second in the Express League with a 5-3 record.
It’s a tough matchup for the Coyotes to open the Division 7 playoffs as the Eagles have a 22-5-2 overall record, and Castaic finished the season 15-13.
But with the game at home, the Coyotes have the opportunity to win in front of their home fans and open their first postseason appearance with a win.
The Coyotes and San Gabriel Academy play at Castaic High School on Wednesday with the game set to begin at 6 p.m.
Norwalk vs. Trinity
The Knights finished the regular season second in the Heritage League with a 14-2 record. And the team will begin the postseason in the Division 6 playoffs with a home game against the Norwalk Lancers.
The Lancers finished the year with a record of 13-10 and concluded the regular season losing two of their last three non-league games.
As for Trinity, the team will have a favorable matchup to open the playoffs as the team is 18-8 and winning seven out of their last eight league games.
Santa Clarita Christian vs. Elsinore
The Cardinals placed fourth in the Heritage League and earned a playoff berth and will be one of two SCV teams to be on the road to begin the first round.
SCCS will participate in the Division 7 playoffs, like Castaic, and carry its 19-10 overall record against Elsinore.
The Cardinals have a favorable matchup as the Tigers have a below .500 regular season record and finished third in their respective league.
And although the team will be on the road, the Cardinals can open the first round with a win and face the No. 1 seed in Ontario in the second round.
The Cardinals and Tigers play on Wednesday at Elsinore High School with the game set to begin at 6 p.m.
