The annual Hart District Film Festival is coming back this school year with submissions open now to high school students throughout the William S. Hart Union High School District.

Gabriel Karney, a junior at Valencia High School, is now taking over the film festival after Valencia High senior Cameron Gezerseh graduated this past year.

The film festival is scheduled Feb. 20 at Valencia High.

“I really am extremely passionate about this festival, and I feel like if we keep growing it, as a judge, the festival gets better as something that people can attend. When the films are better, and something that will cause the films to be better is if there’s a broader selection to choose from,” Karney said. “My strategy for this year is just to promote as much as possible and have as many options (film submissions) to showcase.”

Students who wish to submit their films, music videos, or animation films must create a Film Freeway account, according to Karney.

Valencia High is located at 27801 Dickason Drive, Valencia. For more information, visit 99066454.wixsite.com/hd-film-festival
