News release
Hope Theatre Arts is scheduled to present the comedy, “Native Gardens,” by Karen Zacarías, Nov. 14-23 at The Main in Old Town Newhall.
“‘Native Gardens’ is a laugh-out-loud comedy about planting, pruning, and property lines gone wrong when a young Latino couple moves into their first home,” said a news release from the nonprofit theater company. “What begins as a friendly backyard renovation quickly spirals into an all-out border dispute with their well-established neighbors.”
“Native Gardens” digs into questions of class, culture and privilege.
“Believe it or not, people can get very weird about their plants,” Susan Fletcher, director of the production, said in the release. “Directing a play is a lot like planting a garden. Come see us in full bloom. You’re going to love ‘Native Gardens.’”
Performances are scheduled 8 p.m. Nov. 14, 20, 21 and 22; and 2 p.m. Nov. 16, 22 and 23. Tickets ($22.23-$24.34) are available at nativegardens.eventbrite.com.
The Main is located at 24266 Main St., Newhall.
