It’s the wedding reception they’ll never forget: In the sanctuary of a bedroom, away from the glittering facade of a lavish wedding reception, five women discover they’re not alone in feeling like outsiders. Meredeth, Frances, Mindy, Georgeanne and Trisha — each carrying their own burdens and secrets — find unexpected solace in each other’s company.

“Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” is the latest production from the nonprofit Olive Branch Theatricals, now playing at the theater group’s performance space on The Patios at the east end of the Valencia Town Center mall, 24201 Valencia Blvd., Valencia.

“This darkly funny exploration of female friendship peels back the layers of social expectations to reveal the raw, complicated and ultimately beautiful truth about connection,” said a news release from The Olive Branch. “Sometimes the most meaningful relationships bloom in the most unlikely places — like hiding from a party you never wanted to attend.”

Remaining showtimes are 2 p.m. Oct. 11, 12, 18 and 19; and, 7 p.m. Oct. 11, 17 and 18. Tickets are $23 for general admission, $21 for seniors/veterans/students, and free for ages 15 and under. Tickets are available at www.olivebranchtheatricals.org.

The Olive Branch advises that the play “contains material that may be considered controversial, offensive, or triggering for audience members. This includes but is not limited to strong language and sensitive themes. Discretion is advised.”
