A local area transient was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary on Wednesday afternoon in Valencia after the man was seen apparently trying to enter an apartment in Valencia, according to a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station official.
At approximately 1 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 24500 block of Town Center Drive after a person reported seeing a man attempting to remove a window covering and possibly trying to enter an apartment unlawfully, Deputy Mariela Picard, a spokeswoman for the SCV Sheriff’s Station, wrote in an email to The Signal on Thursday.
Deputies detained the suspect, who was identified as a 39-year-old local transient matching the description provided by the reporting party, she added, and was booked into the SCV Sheriff’s Station jail and held without bail.
The suspect is due for a preliminary hearing at the Los Angeles County Superior Court in San Fernando on Friday morning, according to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department arrest logs available online.
