The Santa Clarita chapter of Moms Demand Action plans to host a remembrance walk Friday evening in honor of the two students killed in the 2019 shooting at Saugus High School.
The walk is being co-led by Tiffany Tretta, whose daughter, Mia Tretta, survived a gunshot wound during the attack.
Walkers are asked to meet by the remembrance obelisks at Central Park, where they’ll begin a loop around the park. Participants are invited to leave a flower at the obelisks at the end of the walk.
Friday will mark six years since the shooting took place, when a 16-year-old Saugus High student shot five other students and then himself. Students Gracie Muehlberger, 15, Dominic Blackwell, 14, and the shooter were killed, and three others were wounded.
The remembrance obelisks were unveiled at Central Park in the summer of 2021 in honor of Muehlberger and Blackwell. Each is covered with 28,000 individually hand-cut Italian mosaic glass tiles, with portraits of the two students alongside images of their favorite things.
The walk is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Central Park is located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus.
