A 47-year-old Santa Clarita Valley man was arrested early Monday on suspicion of felony domestic violence after allegedly kicking a door in, sending pieces of the damaged wood loose and hitting his girlfriend, according to SCV Sheriff’s Station deputies.

Deputies were dispatched to the 14800 block of Canna Valley Street around midnight Monday morning.

The suspect and alleged victim, who according to an emailed statement from the SCV Sheriff’s Station are in a “dating relationship,” told deputies they’d gotten into an argument earlier that night. As the argument escalated, the woman hid in her bedroom to get away from the 47-year-old, deputies reported.

“The suspect then rammed the bedroom door with his body, causing the door to break,” according to the emailed statement from station spokeswoman Shirley Miller. “Pieces of the damaged door struck the victim.”

The woman declined medical treatment at the scene, and the 47-year-old was arrested. The man’s occupation was listed as “sales rep,” according to Los Angeles County booking logs.

He subsequently bonded out with bail at $50,000.
