Ventura Harbor to host holiday caroling cruises, whale watching

Island Packers, the official concessionaire to the Channel Islands, is offering holiday caroling cruises leading up to Christmas, as well as winter whale watching starting the next day.  

One-hour holiday caroling cruises in Ventura Harbor are offered 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23, featuring seasonal music and a cruise through the harbor to view holiday lights in the main channels of the marinas. The fare is $24 per adult, $22 per senior (55-plus) and $18 per child.  

Winter whale watching starts Dec. 26 and runs through mid-April. This is an annual event to see the gray whales, with boats departing from Oxnard and Ventura Harbors.   The fare is $49 per adult, $45 per senior (55-plus), and $36 per child. 

A full day of holiday festivities is scheduled on Saturday, Dec. 20, with the family-friendly Santa Paddle from 11 a.m. to noon and the Ventura Harbor Village Winter Wonderland & Holiday Marketplace from noon to 4 p.m.
