Castaic girls’ flag football head coach William Jones, who led the Coyotes to their first playoff appearance and finished the season as CIF Division 5 finalist, won the 2025 LA Rams Coach of The Year award presented at the Los Angeles Rams football game on Sunday.
The award, which is handed out by the Los Angeles Rams football organization, recognizes the top coaches in each of the CIF’s sections in Southern California. The award includes a $4,000 donation to each recipient who finished as a finalist.
“It’s super exciting winning this award and being recognized by the Los Angeles Rams and the NFL, who support and invest in the growth of girls’ flag football. This was a total team award,” said Jones.

Jones led the Coyotes to a 15-11 overall record and 8-6 record in Foothill League play. The Coyotes finished fourth in the standings and earned their first-ever postseason berth into the playoffs in the team’s first season.
Five Coyote players finished as all-league honorees with Pyper Ormes, Charlotte Wheeler and Larkin “Lu Lu” Smith earning all-CIF selections at the end of the season.
“I couldn’t do it without the 22 amazing young ladies I had the privilege to coach, my outstanding assistant coaches, the school and Castaic community. This is huge as we take this momentum into the offseason and look forward to the 2026 season.”
