A Canyon Country man arrested over an alleged knife-wielding in August pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor disturbing the peace charge Monday, according to court records.

Judge David Walgren sentenced Kwame Felix Panthier, 49, of Santa Clarita, to 14 days in jail, with credit for time served, and 10 days of community service, as a result of his plea.

A previous misdemeanor brandishing charge was dismissed as a result.

After the Dec. 10 preliminary hearing for Panthier, Judge Robert Sanchez DuFour dismissed an assault with a deadly weapon charge and allowed the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office to refile a misdemeanor brandishing charge.

A security guard in Panthier’s apartment complex knocked on the defendant’s door around midnight Aug. 8, after hearing loud music coming from his apartment, according to a sworn statement from the detective who investigated the allegation.

The alleged victim was asking Panthier to turn his music down when Panthier answered the door with a 6- to 12-inch curved blade, according to the detective’s later request to search Panthier’s apartment for the knife.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
