Stevenson Ranch native Aubrey Lee, an eighth grader at Rancho Pico Junior High School, was named to the 2026 Southern California girls’ team that is one of 31 state junior programs nationwide.
Lee, the youngest member of Team Southern California, was selected among 10 boys and 10 girls by the Southern California Golf Association, which provides team gear and invitations to state camps.
Members also receive support from Team Southern California staff in partnership with the U.S. National Development Program, an initiative launched by the United States Golf Association.
“It’s one of the biggest accomplishments she’s made so far,” said Christine Lee, Aubrey Lee’s mother. “She just turned 14, she really loves golf, and she competes all the time. And to go up against girls that are way older than her and to the named Team California is a huge accomplishment.”
According to a news release from the SCGA, “The initiative provides key development, competitive and talent identification opportunities for athletes ages 13-18 and will continue adding new states each year, with the goal of all 50 states having a team by 2033.”
Lee finished this past year as a quarterfinalist in the 2025 California Women’s Amateur Championship hosted by the Northern California Golf Association and recorded a top 10 finish at the 2025 Uswing Junior World Championship.
Lee, 14, has been playing competitive golf since she was 10 and is set to participate in the 2026 U.S Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship scheduled to take place in May in South Carolina.
