The California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section announced its 11-man and eight-man all-CIF list for the 2025 season, which included multiple Santa Clarita Valley athletes across different divisions.

In total, 13 local players were recognized across four divisions for their efforts in the playoffs between both lists.

The lone local selection in the Division 3 category came from the Valencia Vikings, the reigning Foothill League Champions, in quarterback Brady Bretthauer.

Bretthauer finished the 2025 season as co-MVP of the league alongside running back Brian Bonner and threw for 331 yards and four touchdowns in the Vikings’ first-round playoff loss to Palos Verdes.

In the Division 7 list, the Hart Hawks and Saugus Centurions combined for seven players with quarterback Jake Nuttall, this season’s Foothill League offensive player of the year, highlighting the category.

Nuttall is joined by teammates Matt Long, Ty Hall and Landon Lattimore. Long and Hall end their high school careers with Saugus as CIF Division 7 semifinalists after the Centurions secured two wins in this year’s postseason.

As for the Hawks, defensive player of the year Josh Whitson cracked the group alongside quarterback Jacob Paisano, and Matix Frithsmith.

Frithsmith makes the list as a junior and is poised for a big senior season next year as the running back secured 1,000 yards in both rushing and receiving and helped lead the team to its first playoff win since 2019.

Rounding out the 11-man list, the Trinity Knights had two players receive honors in the Division 14 category as quarterback Andrew Carlson and Hudson Sweitzer were recognized.

History was made for Trinity football as the program secured its first 11-man playoff win in the first-round as the Knights defeated the Gabrielino Eagles with Carlson and Sweitzer combining for 625 yards and seven touchdowns.
