If Santa Clarita residents logged onto social media on Tuesday morning, they may have seen reports of a school shooting at Golden Valley High School. However, it was at the high school with the same name in Bakersfield.

Debbie Dunn, director of communication and community engagement at the William S. Hart Union High School District, confirmed in a phone interview with The Signal on Tuesday morning that there was no threat at Golden Valley in Santa Clarita.

“Golden Valley High School sent a message to parents that says, ‘We’ve confirmed these posts concern a school in Bakersfield and not related to our campus.
There is no threat to Golden Valley in Santa Clarita,’” Dunn said.
