An overturned vehicle resulted in one transport at the intersection of Valencia Boulevard and McBean Parkway on Monday afternoon, according to an official with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, said the man was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 2:37 p.m. and arrived a few minutes later, according to Kaitlyn Aldana, spokeswoman for the Fire Department.
The man was transported at 2:54 p.m., Aldana said.
One witness, Natalie E., who declined to give her last name, said she was about three cars behind the black GMC truck and said it was waiting while the light was green near Toppers Pizza.
“So we had to wait for the red light, and then when the light changed, we all went around him and continued straight,” Natalie said. “He was still on like the first lane near Topper’s Pizza, then you could hear the swerving and the speeding sound behind me. I saw him coming behind me and I thought he was going to hit me because he was, like, coming towards me.”
Natalie added that the truck continued swerving and ultimately hit a white Infiniti SUV — pushing it into the grass — then hit a light pole and flipped over.
A private backflow system was also spewing water up next to the truck, but it was not confirmed whether the truck hit it when it flipped.
Kevin Strauss, communications manager for the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency, said since it was a private backflow system, SCV Water would not be responsible for the repairs.
Miller added that there was an orange Dodge Challenger that was also involved in the collision.
