Officials with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office have identified the woman who was killed in a traffic collision on northbound State Route 14, just north of Newhall Avenue and Interstate 5 on Wednesday afternoon.

Claudia Funk, 35, has been identified as the woman in the fatal crash. There was no place of residence listed at the time of the publication of this story, according to Kelly Vail, spokeswoman for the Medical Examiner.

According to L.A. County Fire Department spokeswoman Edith Lai, first responders were dispatched to the scene in response to the crash where the driver of the vehicle was declared dead at the scene.

The vehicle was described as a blue Toyota Corolla, according to a news release provided by Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, public information officer of the California Highway Patrol Newhall-area Office.

The Toyota became wedged under a truck-tractor combination trailer, Burgos-Lopez stated in a news release. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
