Officials with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner have identified the man who was killed in a traffic collision between a bicyclist and a Santa Clarita Transit bus in Castaic on Wednesday morning.

Hahn Truong, 67, of Castaic, has been identified as the man who was killed in the traffic collision on Pinto Place and Green Hill Drive, according to Kelly Vail, spokeswoman for the Medical Examiner.

The initial call came in at 7:34 a.m. reporting a collision of a pedestrian and a school bus, said Officer Carlos Burgo-Lopez, spokesman for the California Highway Patrol Newhall-area Office, in a phone interview Wednesday morning.

When officers arrived on the scene, Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel declared the man deceased on the scene, Burgos-Lopez added.

He added that the Truong may have drifted into the lane of the bus, which was actually not a school bus but a Santa Clarita Transit bus.

There was one passenger in the bus at the time of the crash but had left the scene when CHP officers arrived on the scene, Burgos-Lopez said in a news release sent out Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of the bus remained at the scene to talk to investigators, he said in the news release.
