A big rig fell on its side after it exited the freeway and took off a stop sign at the Mobil gas station on The Old Road near Sloan Canyon Road on Monday morning.
According to a California Highway Patrol Newhall-area officer on the scene, speed was a factor for the crash, and the trailer was barely stocked with load.
The L.A. County Fire Department’s Health Hazardous Material teams were at the scene due to the diesel leak on the curb, and Southern California Edison personnel were also called in due to exposed wires, but the wires were not related to the crash, according to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesman for the CHP.
Firefighters were dispatched at 11:41 a.m. and arrived two minutes later, said Saadullah Sheikh with the Fire Department.

CHP officers had the southbound Interstate 5 at Lake Hughes Road shut down, and two heavy-duty tow trucks were called in to clear the scene.
There were no injuries reported.
Everything was declared safe at 4:30 p.m. with only Edison at the scene fixing the exposed wires, Burgos-Lopez said.
