A 49-year-old Newhall man was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI charges after he was seen swerving into opposing lanes of traffic on San Francisquito Canyon Road on Saturday afternoon, according to officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Around 12:50 p.m., deputies received a call for service about a possible drunk driver with a caller continuing to provide updates, advising that the vehicle was traveling southbound on Seco Canyon Road, according to an email statement from Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the station.
Responding deputies located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, she added in the statement.
Field sobriety tests were administered, and the driver was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.20%, and the driver was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI charges, the statement said.
He was transported to the station jail, where he was booked and later cited and released with a future court date, according to Miller’s statement.
