Santa Clarita Valley residents should prepare for the warm weather as temperatures are heating up, according to National Weather Service officials.

Lisa Phillips, a meteorologist at NWS, said the heat will build and there will be high pressure across the valley.

Starting Tuesday, the temperatures will be mid- to high-90s and, by Wednesday, there may be a couple of 100-degree days sneaking in, Phillips said.

Overnight temperatures will be fairly warm, especially in areas with higher elevations, she added.

“We should have some areas … that don’t get down much below the 70s. Otherwise, there could be some 60s mixed in there,” Phillips said.

Thursday’s weather is expected to be in the low 100s throughout the area, with Friday looking similar, maybe slightly cooler, Phillips said.

“It’s going to be pretty hot, and then as that heat builds over time, that means that the overnight lows can start getting warmer and warmer,” Phillips added.

Large wildfires are not expected to break out, but there is potential for small grass fires, according to Phillips.

Winds will be weaker throughout the week, Phillips said.

“So, there’s a high risk for heat illness through this whole time period, especially with how warm it is unseasonably this early. Generally, we don’t get temperatures as hot in March,” Phillips said.

When asked if Phillips had any advice for residents, she said to plan accordingly and if residents do not need to be out, it is best to stay home.

She added that residents should check their vehicles as it can get very hot for pets and children.
