A Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station official confirmed Thursday that a Castaic man had turned himself in to the station’s jail on Golden Valley Road, in connection with the investigation into a fatal hit-and-run April 10.

Brian Ketih Foraker, 67, of Castaic, reportedly turned himself into the SCV Sheriff’s Station Thursday morning, according to an email from Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the station.

Foraker was arrested on suspicion that he caused the collision that killed Dion Mumphery, a 39-year-old transient who died of blunt force trauma near the intersection of Tourney Road and Magic Mountain Parkway in Valencia, at around 8:22 p.m.

LASD custody records available online indicate Foraker, whose occupation was not listed, was arrested at 10:15 a.m. and booked into custody at 11:02 a.m.

“The arrest is in connection to the fatal hit-and-run traffic collision that occurred on April 10 at the intersection of Magic Mountain Parkway and Tourney Road,” according to Miller’s email Thursday. “The incident involved a pedestrian who succumbed to injuries at the scene. The suspect vehicle fled prior to the arrival of deputies.”

One witness at the scene described the vehicle as a Ford F-150, but station officials were not immediately able to confirm whether that was accurate or the make of Foraker’s vehicle.

LASD custody records indicate that Foraker had been released by 2:15 p.m.

The L.A. County District Attorney’s Office did not have filing information as of this story’s publication, as a case had not yet been presented, according to a spokesperson.

SCV Sheriff’s Station officials have asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to contact Detective Cramer at 661-260-4000 ext. 5678 for possible leads into the investigation.
