A brush fire reported in an area of the Santa Clara River’s South Fork in Newhall on Thursday night prompted the response of multiple Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters, who extinguished the blaze in less than a half-hour.
The blaze was first reported at approximately 10:09 p.m. in the wash near Valle Del Oro and Costa Brava in Newhall, near The Village Apartments, according to reports from the scene.
The L.A. County Fire Department responded and firefighters were at the scene within a minute, according to Kaitlyn Aldana, a spokeswoman for the agency. The blaze was estimated to be less than an acre in size and was fully extinguished by 10:33 p.m.
Due to residences being close in proximity, fire engines were quickly dispatched to a neighborhood north of the incident as a precaution for structural defense, according to reports from the scene.
The cause of the fire remains unknown as of the publication of this story, and personnel from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station could not be reachedFriday for additional information on the matter.
No injuries were reported, Aldana added.
