The California Pizza Kitchen restaurant on the 24600 block of Newhall Ranch Road in Valencia was temporarily shut down by Los Angeles County’s Department of Public Health onTuesday due to vermin infestation, a sign on display in the restaurant’s main entrance confirmed.
According to a copy of the inspection report from the L.A. County Department of Public Health provided to The Signal on Thursday afternoon, the facility was given a “C” grade and scored a 70 following a routine inspection on Tuesday after roaches and flies were located in various areas of the restaurant.
Areas where both live and dead roaches were located were in the dishwasher area, on the floor in front of the pizza cold table, and on a plastic lid used to cover bread at the pasta station, the report stated.
Other violations noted on the report were toxic substances unlabeled and stored at a sink adjacent to the bar and lack of cleanliness in surface areas.
A spokesperson for California Pizza Kitchen wrote in an emailed statement Thursday that the restaurant was expected to reopen imminently, but no exact day or time was provided. Information regarding the measures taken by staff was not immediately provided.
