A 55-year-old Canyon Country man was detained on Aug. 25 in relation to an alleged assault with a deadly weapon on May 26, according to Deputy Mariela Picard with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
According to Picard, deputies responded to an incident on May 26 at the intersection of Copper Hill Drive and Newhall Ranch Road in Saugus regarding two motorists. The suspect allegedly pointed a handgun during a road-rage incident, according to Picard.
“At the time of the incident, no arrest was made. However, the victim was able to photograph the suspect and the suspect vehicle, providing detectives with valuable evidence to assist with the investigation … A warrant was subsequently issued for [the suspect’s] arrest,” Picard wrote in an email to The Signal.
Nearly three months later, the suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon with a firearm. The suspect’s bail is set at $50,000.
