Castaic girls’ volleyball bounces back with road win over Golden Valley

Following five straight losses, the Castaic Coyotes bounced back with a four-set victory over the Golden Valley Grizzlies on Tuesday.  

With the win, the Coyotes (14-9, 4-3) improved their Foothill League record to 4-3 and grabbed their 14th overall victory of the season.  

With a 4-3 Foothill League record, the Coyotes remain tied for third in the girls’ volleyball Foothill League standings along with the Valencia Vikings.  

The Coyotes will look to build upon their momentum with a home matchup against the West Ranch Wildcats on Tuesday with first serve scheduled for 5 p.m.  

As for Golden Valley (6-18-4, 0-6), the loss dropped the Grizzlies their 18th overall defeat and they remained winless in Foothill League play.  

The Grizzlies will look to grab their first win on Tuesday at Golden Valley High School in a home matchup against the Saugus Centurions with first serve set for 5 p.m.  

After Thursday’s games, here are scores from around the Foothill League:  

Saugus 3, Canyon 0: Following a straight-set win over Castaic, the Saugus Centurions (21-7-1, 6-1) followed up their performance with another straight-set win over the Canyon Cowboys (12-10, 3-4) on Thursday.  

With the win, the Centurions grabbed their 21st win of the season but remained in second place in the girls’ volleyball Foothill League standings with a 6-1 record.  

The Centurions will look to continue their winning momentum in their next Foothill League matchup on Tuesday at Golden Valley High School against the Grizzlies, with the game scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.  

As for Canyon, the loss dropped the Cowboys to a 3-4 Foothill League record and fifth in the standings.  

The Cowboys will look to bounce back quickly on Tuesday at Canyon High School against the visiting Valencia Vikings with the game set to begin at 5 p.m. 

Valencia 3, Hart 0: After a loss to the West Ranch Wildcats on Tuesday, the Valencia Vikings (11-9, 4-3) responded quickly with a straight-set win over the Hart Hawks (4-12, 1-6) on Thursday.  

With the win, the Vikings improve their Foothill League record to above .500 and remain in third in the standings.  

The Vikings will look to keep up their momentum on Tuesday at Canyon High School against the Cowboys with first serve set for 5 p.m.  

As for Hart, the loss dropped the Hawks to a 1-6 record in Foothill League play and sixth in the girls’ volleyball standings.  

The Hawks will look to bounce back Wednesday in a matchup against the West Ranch Wildcats with first serve scheduled for 5 p.m.
