Everest Burgers was ordered by the county Public Health Department to shut down on Thursday to address a vermin infestation that took place in the restaurant.
The Canyon Country establishment was said to have violated California Health and Safety Code Section 114259.1, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
According to a document released by the department, Everest Burgers, which could seat between 61 to 150 individuals, was considered “high risk.” The following violations were mentioned and ranked between “minor” and “major”:
- Demonstration of knowledge — minor.
- Food safety certification — minor.
- Adequate handwashing facilities; supplied & accessible — minor.
- Hands clean and properly washed; proper glove use — major.
- Proper hot and cold holding temperatures — major.
- Food contact surfaces: clean and sanitized — major.
- Food in good condition, safe and unadulterated — major.
- No insects, rodents, birds or animals present — major.
It is unclear when Everest, on the 18600 block of Soledad Canyon Road, is set to reopen. Attempts to reach Everest Burgers by phone were unsuccessful on Tuesday as of this story’s publication.
