Greif, Lee finish as co-medalists, West Ranch girls’ golf extends league lead

The West Ranch girls’ golf team claimed the win in Tuesday’s third round of the Foothill League season with Wildcats Zoe Grief and Aubrey Lee ending the day as co-medalists with an even-par round of 36 at the Oaks Club at Valencia.  

Lee, who’s a freshman at West Ranch High School, retained her first place in the season-long individual standings with an even-par round in Tuesday’s match with a total season score of 105.  

Not far behind in second place is Greif, who is three strokes behind Lee with a total season score of 108.  

Both Lee and Greif led the Wildcats to the team’s third-consecutive win as West Ranch ended Tuesday’s match with a total team score of 195.  

Following the third round, the Wildcats remained in first place in the Foothill League’s team standings with a total score of 530 and extended their stroke difference over the second-place Valencia Vikings by 37 strokes.  

As for Valencia, the Vikings ended Tuesday’s round with a total team score of 210, with five golfers participating after Eliana Saga, who’s a commit to the University of Southern California, did not play.  

Valencia’s Kara An led the Vikings as she shot a total score of 38 (+2) as the team finished 15 strokes behind West Ranch on Tuesday.  

As for the rest of the Foothill League, Saugus ended Tuesday’s round in third place with a total team score of 266 with Ruby Johnson leading all Centurions with a score of 43 (+7).  

The Grizzlies, who ended Tuesday’s third round in fourth place with a total team score of 269, were led by Golden Valley’s Kiehl Quila as she finished with a 46 (+10).  

In fifth place, the Coyotes ended the third round with a total team score of 276, eight strokes behind Golden Valley, with Castaic’s Addy Fractor leading the team with the lowest score after she posted a 44 (+8).  

In sixth, the Hawks ended the day with a total score of 303 with Hart’s Elise Craig-Forcum totaling the lowest score with a 42 (+6).  

As for Canyon, the Cowboys did not report an official team score following the third round after the team only had three golfers participating on Tuesday.  

Canyon’s Mady Morgan finished with the lowest score out of the three golfers who participated, posting a 55 (+19).  

The Foothill League will return for its fourth round of play on Thursday with teams set to tee off at noon at the Oaks Club at Valencia.
