One person was killed and multiple people were transported to the hospital in unknown condition following a multivehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon in Canyon Country, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.
The crash, which involved four vehicles, was reported near the intersection of Rainbow Glen Drive and Soledad Canyon Road at approximately 12:16 p.m., according to Keith Navarre, a spokesman for L.A. County Fire and sheriff’s Detective Charlie Upchurch, who was at the scene of the incident.
The person killed was only identified as a female, according to Upchurch. She was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to Lt. John Griffith, of the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
Preliminary information indicated that a white Honda CRV was traveling on Soledad Canyon Road and went eastbound on Rainbow Glen when the vehicles collided, Griffith stated.
Following the collision, multiple people were transported to hospitals in an unknown condition, and one person was reportedly trapped, according to Navarre.
The area where the collision took place could be seen blocked off with yellow caution tape at around 1 p.m. Tuesday, while deputies conducted their investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
Multiple areas were expected to be closed off for three to four hours, while the investigation continued, Griffith said.
The city of Santa Clarita issued a statement on its social media platforms advising commuters to avoid the area due to a closure on both directions following a traffic collision.
