A vehicle on fire spread to nearby brush briefly on north Sierra Highway and Foothill Boulevard in Newhall late Saturday evening, according to an official with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived on the scene at 11:53 p.m., and local engine 73 personnel deemed it a working fire immediately after, according to Pauline McGee, spokeswoman for the Fire Department.
There was one vehicle fully involved that spread to the brush nearby, slowly creeping uphill and near the freeways, she said. There were no structures that immediately threatened.
The fire was knocked down around 11:59 p.m., McGee said.
There were no reported injuries, McGee added.
A witness at the scene said he saw a vehicle and a few people leaving the area, seeing the SUV on fire later and hearing a few explosions.
