Los Angeles County Medical Examiner officials have identified the woman who was ejected from her vehicle after a solo-vehicle traffic collision on Interstate 5, southbound near Lake Hughes Road on Saturday morning.

Kelly Lewis, 51, of Lebec, is the woman who was killed after being ejected from her vehicle on Saturday morning, according to the L.A. County Medical Examiner’s office.

Officers received the call around 6:23 a.m., according to a news release from the California Highway Patrol Newhall-area Office. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were also called to the scene.

Officers located an overturned vehicle within the right shoulder and a woman within the No. 1 lane. She was pronounced deceased by firefighters, the release said.

Initial reports indicate the driver was traveling southbound on I-5, near Lake Hughes Road and for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway, climbed the dirt embankment, and rolled over, the news release said.

The woman was ejected as a result of the crash. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash, the release said.
