California Highway Patrol officers are still seeking the whereabouts of a driver who fled the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash Thursday afternoon, according to a spokesman for the Newhall-area Office.

The suspected circumstances surrounding the crash are not being released pending the investigation, according to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, a CHP spokesman.

The L.A. County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the person killed in the crash as Semaj Weldon, a 28-year-old Lancaster man.

CHP officials also indicated they are not releasing any suspect information at this time; however, anyone who might have seen the crash at 4:13 p.m. Thursday, in the northbound lanes of State Route 14, south of Via Princessa, is asked to contact Officer Mohammed Hotaki of the Newhall-area Office.

A white Kia 5 and a Dodge Ram truck collided, which flipped the truck over and resulted in the ejection of the driver from the Dodge truck, according to an incident report from the CHP.

CHP officers reported that the driver of the white Kia fled from the scene of the crash on foot prior to CHP officers’ arrival.

Two additional passengers, whose identities were not published in the CHP report, were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their conditions were not known at this time.

Anyone who might have any information regarding the crash can contact Hotaki at 661-600-1600.

Anyone who would prefer to provide information anonymously, can call “Crime Stoppers” by dialing 800-222-TIPS (8477), or use a smartphone by downloading the “P3 Tips” app.
