News release

Raising the Curtain Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the Newhall Family Theatre for the Performing Arts, is seeking a volunteer treasurer to join its board of directors.

Founded in 2018, the foundation creates and promotes programming that introduces the performing arts to the local community, serving students, artists, educators, and families at an inclusive venue built for all of them, said a news release from the foundation.

As an officer of the corporation, the treasurer manages RTCF’s finances, keeps its financial records, and reports to the board as requested. No financial credential or professional license is required. The foundation is looking for someone with sound judgment, reliability, comfort working with financial information, and genuine enthusiasm for RTCF’s mission, the release said.

The treasurer serves a one-year officer term, with the option to be reappointed for up to four consecutive terms. Board members are expected to attend meetings (held the second Monday of the month at the theater), participate in at least one committee or event, and help promote RTCF’s mission in the community. The estimated time commitment is approximately 10 hours per month, and support will be provided by the previous treasurer and remaining board, the release said.

“Being part of RTCF’s board means helping make sure the arts stay within reach for every student, artist, and family in our community. Our treasurer plays a vital role in that, and we’re looking for someone who cares about this mission as much as we do,” foundation President Nickie DeTolve said in the release.

Community members interested in serving as treasurer are invited to complete the board interest form by Oct. 26 at forms.gle/hpWUd9pnp1jCG1AH7.
