So much for that Friday morning light commute through the Santa Clarita Valley.
A vehicle fire slowed the southbound commute on State Route 14 Friday morning.

A tree-trimming truck caught fire and was extinguished in the No. 4 (rightmost) lane of the highway, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department officials.
“(Firefighters were) dispatched at 7:08 (a.m.), arrived on scene at 7:12 (a.m.), it was closed at 7:44 a.m.,” according to Pauline McGee, press information officer for L.A. County Fire. “The call was a vehicle fire on the freeway at southbound 14 at Golden Valley Road in Santa Clarita.”
There was no indication of injuries or that the fire had spread, and there was no record of responding units requesting assistance, according to McGee.
The freeway lanes heading south remained jammed as of 9 a.m., according to Caltrans’ QuickMap online.
