We Teach the Art
of Storytelling

Interns with The Signal learn how to ask questions and build a story using a variety of mediums including print, video, social media, podcasts, and more.

The Santa Clarita Valley Signal boasts a large and dynamic news media team reaching audiences of 300,000+ people every month. 

Requirements

Applicants must be working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree, and enrolled in a for-credit class to be eligible. Applicants must also be eligible to work in the U.S.

Graduates are not eligible unless enrolled in a for-credit class.

Applicants for the visual journalism and most reporting internships should have a valid driver’s license and access to a car in good working condition.

Previous journalism experience is preferred, and applicants are required to submit recent work samples. Internships are unpaid. 

Internship lengths can very, but are generally around 10 weeks or a total of 60 credit hours. 

Deadlines

Summer – April 30, 2020

 Fall – August 30, 2020

Winter – November 30, 2020

Spring – January 30, 2021

 

Start dates are flexible. Finalists may be contacted for Skype and/or in-person interviews. Accepted applicants will be chosen and informed of acceptance no more than 30 days after the deadline for each quarter.
