CBS Film Series: ‘The Prince of Tides’

A throwback to kick off Congregation Beth Shalom’s summer film series: Starring Barbara Streisand, Nick Nolte and Blythe Danner, “The Prince of Tides” centers on Tom Wingo, a disillusioned Southern football coach and teacher. He travels to New York City after his twin sister, Savannah, attempts suicide. He meets her psychiatrist, Dr. Susan Lowenstein, who needs his help understanding Savannah’s troubled past. Through their therapeutic sessions, Tom and Dr. Lowenstein develop a connection and fall in love. However, their romance is complicated by Tom’s existing marriage and his commitment to his family.
