A vehicle fire broke out on the northbound side of State Route 14 of the Golden Valley Road off-ramp on Monday afternoon, according to an official with the California Highway Patrol Newhall-area Office.
The white sedan was on fire on the right shoulder near the off-ramp, according to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, public information officer with the CHP.
Burgos-Lopez said that officers did not know the cause of the car fire.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the scene at 12:32 p.m. and arrived a few minutes later, according to Fred Fielding, spokesman for the Fire Department.
There was a minor spread to the brush next to the freeway, but firefighters were able to handle the flames, Fielding said.
The driver was able to exit the sedan, Burgos-Lopez said.
Firefighters said forward progress was stopped at 12:50 p.m., according to radio dispatch traffic.
The No. 2 and 3 lanes and the off-ramp were closed while firefighters and CHP officers handled the incident, Burgos-Lopez said.
There is no additional information at the time of this publication, according to Burgos-Lopez.
