Pet lovers can adopt a dog or cat during a Super Adoption event at the Best Friends Pet Adoption Center, No-Kill Los Angeles (NKLA) Pet Adoption Center, and all six Los Angeles Animal Services shelters.

The event offers free adoptions for cats over four months old at L.A. Animal Services and cats over six months old at Best Friends and NKLA.

“Cats make fantastic pets and they happen to be the most in need of being adopted in Los Angeles,” said Jose Ocano, Pacific Region Director of Best Friends Animal Society in a statement. “The Citywide Super Adoption offers the most convenient, cost-effective way to bring a new feline friend home.”

There will also be $25 dog and kitten adoptions at Best Friends and NKLA, and $38 kitten adoptions and $51 dog adoptions at Los Angeles Animal Services.

Thousands of dogs and cats will be available to choose from. All pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go home immediately.

“Adoption is awesome because you’re saving a life and it’s affordable, too,” Ocano said.

The Citywide Super Adoption is a unique twist on Best Friends’ semi-annual NKLA Super Adoption, which is usually held at one location with participating shelters and rescues bringing a few dozen pets each day.

“Our goal with this Super Adoption is to drive potential adopters to their local shelters, where there are hundreds of super pets waiting to be discovered,” Ocano said.

Doors open for the Super Adoption at 8 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday at all locations, with varied closing times. Visit bestfriendsla.org/superadoption for more info.

“Staff and volunteers at each location are super eager to help you make that perfect pet match, so come on down. Adopt during the citywide Super Adoption and you’ll be a superhero to your pet forever,” Ocano said.

For those not able to go to the L.A. shelters for the free adoption event, pets can always be adopted and rescued at the Santa Clarita Valley Castaic Animal Shelter.
