The City of Santa Clarita is holding a ribbon cutting event on Thursday, Nov. 30 to celebrate the opening of the River Village Trailhead near the intersection of Bouquet Canyon Road and Newhall Ranch Road.

A result of a partnership between the city, FivePoint and the Castaic Lake Water Agency, the trailhead will connect residents to the 11-mile long Santa Clara River trail which currently extends from Interstate 5 to Sand Canyon Road.

Residents will be able to access the trailhead – complete with a drinking fountain, bike rack, four picnic tables and two benches – from the Starbucks parking lot on Bouquet Canyon Road.

The Castaic Lake Water agency will construct seven parking spaces and an electric vehicle charging station that will be available for use in spring of 2018.

“The City is thrilled to be able to provide another trailhead in partnership with FivePoint and Castaic Lake Water Agency,” said Mayor Cameron Smyth. “Trailheads clearly mark out where a trail begins and the easier we make it for residents and visitors to find our trails, the more encouraged they are to explore them.”

Although free and open to the public, those who wish to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony must RSVP by Monday, Nov. 27.
